Terms of reference

  1. A Departmental Advisory Committee shall be established for each department in a College to act as an interface with public and private sectors and the community at large.
  2. The Departmental Advisory Committee shall advise the Head of Department on:
    1. Areas on consultancy and contract research;
    2. The need for any proposed new course(s);
    3. Proposed developments in existing course(s);
    4. The continued usefulness of existing course(s), through the consideration of annual reports on course evaluation, including the number and quality of students admitted to the course(s), student performance in the course(s), students' subsequent placement and, where possible, later careers;
    5. The needs of Hong Kong and China and how the course(s) and Department may respond to them;
    6. The assistance which employment, professional and community organizations can give to further the objectives of the University in the subjects associated with the Department in such matters as practical training facilities, the promotion of courses (undergraduate and postgraduate), the provision of part-time teaching, equipment, the award of scholarships, research and development, and joint study programmes.
