As part of the department's concern with graduate career development, a series of internship programmes has been organised for students to experience the operation mode of the accounting field before graduation.
The internship programmes are definite valuable opportunities to students, as students get to acquire practical working experience before graduation.
Companies offering internship placement to our students include the biggest four accounting companies in the industry namely Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst and Young, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers; and several multi-national corporations and local SMEs.
Apart from academic and career development, the department also emphasises whole person development of our students. Listed below are the schemes and programmes that the department offers to our students.
Student Exchange [ homepage ]
The Department organizes academic exchanges with overseas renowned institutions every year, which enable students to experience foreign cultures and learning environments. Our past Accountancy students have succeeded in obtaining the HSBC scholarship for exchange programmes with Stanford, Manchester and London Universities. The Department has also set up courses with various overseas universities to help students understand business environments abroad.
Student Mentoring Scheme
This Scheme aims to prepare our students, both mentors and mentees, to be responsible citizens in City University and in Hong Kong, and to become future business leaders. The programme is aimed to cultivate a strong sense of belonging to the Department of Accountancy and City University. It facilitates the establishment of a network for senior students to interact with junior students, to learn from each other, and to share experiences.
Executive Mentoring Scheme [ homepage ]
The Executive Mentoring Scheme was implemented since 2005. The scheme aims to enhance the personal and professional development of students through one-to-one mentoring relationship with business executives and accounting professionals. Interested individuals/firms are welcome to contact Mr David Yip, Coordinator of the scheme, at acdy@cityu.edu.hk if they wish to become mentor/mentee.
