Sharing Insights and Knowledge in the Industry

Our DBA learning partners, Mr Joel Ma (Cohort 2013) and Ms Lynne Sprugel (Cohort 2016), were invited as guest speakers in the 10th Annual Global Sourcing Day 2017 held at The Cordis Hong Kong on 8th December 2017. CityU Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme was one of the sponsors of this year’s event.

This year’s event was themed on the Future of Global Sourcing - “It’s about more than just cost savings”. The topics included connected supply chain, attaining customer loyalty, globalization, integration, innovation and collaboration. The event brought together business leaders and experts from many strands of the worldwide sourcing industry to share their experiences and expertise on their disciplines and attracted over 100 participants.

The event was kicked off with Opening Remarks by Mr Michael Hung, CEO of CBX Software (the event organizer), followed by various presentations and panel discussions by professionals throughout the day.

As a learning partner of CityU DBA programme, Lynne shared with the audience her research on Global Sourcing Landscape Shift: The Long Term Disruption Risks Transforming the Global Supply Chain. She pointed out the 5 megatrends (DRIVE Framework) and revealed how future trends might impact sourcing shift decisions.

As Business Strategy Director of Hallmark Cards (HK) Limited, Joel spoke to the audience on How to Gain Better Supplier Collaboration and Improve Performance. He explained the challenges faced by consumer products industry and the benefits of supplier collaboration to overcome those challenges.

Both presentations offered insights to the participants and spun off meaningful questions and fruitful discussions.
