Programme Structure & Curriculum 

Students are required to complete the seven core courses (21 credit units) and three elective courses (9 credit units):

Core Courses (21 credit units)

EF5400 Advanced International Trade
EF5402 Economic Growth and Development
EF5406 International Finance
EF5470 Advanced Econometrics
EF5471 Advanced Microeconomics
EF5472 Advanced Macroeconomics
EF5473 Professional Seminars in Applied Economics

Elective Courses (9 credit units)

Students are required to choose three elective courses (9 credit units) from the below list:

EF5407* Topics in Microeconomics
EF5408* Topics in Econometrics 
 

Up to two 3-credit-unit free electives
(any course subject to the approval from programme leader and course offering department)

* Elective courses offered in 2023/24

 

(Tentatively in 2024/25 elective courses to be offered are EF5407 Topics in Microeconomics and EF5411 Topics in Macroeconomics.)

Graduation Requirements 

Apart from fulfilling the above programme requirements, students have to meet the below graduation requirements:

  • pass all core and elective courses;
  • earn 30 credit units; and
  • achieve a Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) of 2.85 or above (Grading System).
