The Hong Kong Chapter of the International Economics and Finance Society was established as the International Economics and Finance Society, Hong Kong, China (hereafter IEFSHK) in the early 1990s. It was initially founded with support from the College of Business Administration of The Chinese University of Hong Kong as an international organization of academic and professional economists with general interest in international economics, particularly international trade and international finance. The IEFSHK supports the establishment of the International Economics and Finance Society, China (IEFS China) in 2008 and its annual conference in Beijing in 2009 and 2010 (for details, visit www.iefschina.org).

The IEFSHK will adopt the bylaws of the IEFS with appropriate modifications. The objectives of the Society are:

Selected Activities
The Society co-sponsors the International Conference on the Global Economic Transformation after the Asian Economic Crisis, organized by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Peking University during May 26-28, 2000, at the Regal Riverside Hotel, Shatin, Hong Kong.
The IEFSHK co-sponsored the International Conference on Recent Advancer in International Economics organized by the City University of Hong Kong during March 12-13, 2002.
