Executive classroom naming ceremony


The College of Business Executive classroom 7-208 in Lau Ming Wai Academic Building has been named “EMBA Association Executive Classroom (薈雋堂行政教室)” in appreciation of the generous support and donations given by the EMBA Association to the University.

Supported by different members from the EMBA community, the naming ceremony was successfully held on 23rd September, and officiated by Ms Alvine Suen Yee-ming, Chairlady of the EMBA Association (2014-16); Mr Aley Chang Chi-hung, the newly elected Chairman of the EMBA Association; Prof Way Kuo, President of CityU; Prof Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development and External Relations); and Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College of Business.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof Kuo thanked the EMBA Association for its continuous support and contributions to the University. He also shared the University’s recent achievement in academic rankings and the establishment of the School of Veterinary Medicine.

 

Ms Suen said in her speech that the EMBA Association has initiated an EMBA Association Fundraising Campaign, which primarily aims to raise donations for the development of the EMBA programme and the College.  She added that the donations will also be used in student scholarships, sponsoring their participation in various community projects.

Ms Suen ended her note explaining the meaning of the Chinese name of the executive classroom: 薈雋堂, which carries the hope of gathering all talents and experts, to work together in advancing the EMBA programme.

In his closing remarks, Prof Lee thanked again the EMBA Association for their donations, and their support in various events and activities over the years.

The EMBA Association would also like to thank Mr Freeman Lau Siu-hong, a renowned designer in Hong Kong, for offering his professional advice on the design of the EMBA Association Executive Classroom.

The ceremony was also attended by Ms Kathy Chan Yin-ling, Associate Vice-President (Development and Alumni Relations); Prof William Wan, Associate Dean (Research and Faculty); Dr Gang Hao, Assistant Dean (Advancement) and Honorary Advisor of the EMBA Association Charity Trust; Dr John Leung Wai-keung, Director of the EMBA programme; other faculty in the College, and members of the EMBA Association.

Established in August 2000, the City University of Hong Kong EMBA Association provides a platform for the EMBA learning partners to share and learn from the experience of other professionals. The Association has more than 250 alumni from the EMBA programme which builds a very strong network of senior executives and business leaders in Hong Kong.
