Accelerated Path to DBA

INTRODUCTION

For EMBA applicants who wish to take the accelerated path to DBA after graduating from EMBA progamme, they should:

  1. meet the entrance requirements of the EMBA Programme; and
  2. indicate their intention in pursuing the DBA accelerated path at the time of application and submit a research statement of 600 to 800 words with the EMBA application.

 

For current EMBA Year 1 students who plan to take the accelerated path to DBA after graduating from EMBA progamme, they should:

  • indicate their intention to pursue the DBA accelerated path by writing to the EMBA Office and submit a research statement of about 600 to 800 words to:

    a) describe one or more problems that you find interesting and believe may benefit by research; and
    b) explain why you think that these problems are significant for you to work with

All shortlisted candidates for the accelerated path will be interviewed by EMBA and DBA Programme Directors.

EMBA participants with the intention to take the accelerated path to DBA and receive no objection from the College Office must take FB6812 EMBA Consulting Project, FB8001D Methodology for Applied Business Research I, FB8002D Methodology for Applied Business Research II and FB8004D Residential Workshop I as their EMBA elective courses. Block credit transfer of these courses (total: 12 credit units) will be arranged for participants upon their admission to DBA programme. EMBA participants should have a Graduation GPA (GGPA) of at least 3.0 and attain satisfactory results in the above-mentioned EMBA electives before they are allowed to enrol in the DBA programme. Failure to achieve the required GGPA will not be eligible to pursue the accelerated path to DBA after their graduation from EMBA.
