We welcome the following current BBA/BSc full-time students who do not have any exchange study experience to make the application.
Students are required to complete at least one year of university studies at CityU before your exchange semester. Students may need to seek the advices from their Departmental Exchange Coordinators for special arrangement if necessary.
*The quotas left behind from the First Round Application will be invited application in the Second Round. Students are therefore encouraged to make their application in the first round application.

Applicants should make their choices from the List of Universities for the College and Departmental Level Exchange Programmes.
How to apply?
For the Second Round Application 2019-2020, applicants are required to complete the application and interview for the (i) College & Departmental Level Exchange Programmes but optional for (ii) Institutional Level Exchange Programmes. No interview is required for (ii). Applicants who do not receive any offer for (i) will be nominated to apply for (ii).
Please complete the Online Application by logging in your Electronic ID in AIMS (>Student Services > Outbound Student Exchange Application) and submit the following supplementary documents electronically from mid-August to mid-September 2019:
optional for applicants who choose to study in Mainland or Taiwan
the test date of your report should be after October 2017 (i.e. valid for duration of two years until end of October 2019)
Photocopy of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) report (for local students only)
At least completed one year of study in bachelor's degree programme before commencing the exchange programme
Have a good academic track record with a minimum cumulative CGPA of 2.8 (for the College and Departmental Exchange Programmes)
(i) CGPA after the examination result of Summer 2019 will be considered
(ii) students who have cumulative CGPA of 2.5 or above may apply for the Institutional Level Exchange Programmes offered by the
Global Engagement Office
Meet the admission requirements of the host university (e.g. GPA, IELTS, TOEFL, foreign language, etc)
Fulfill the following English language requirement (optional for applicants who choose to study in Mainland or Taiwan):
(i) a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based)/213 (Computer-based), or
(ii) IELTS Band 6.5 or above, and
(iii) the test date of your report should be after October 2017, i.e. valid for duration of two years until end of October 2019
Have a good performance in the selection interview, and
Priority will be given to applicants who have
(i) satisfactory IELTS or TOEFL scores on or before 31 July 2019, and/or
(ii) participated in the CB School Outreach Programme and as recommended by BBA programme administrators
Students would be registered as not-for-degree visiting or exchange students in the overseas universities.
All credits earned overseas would be transferable to CityU.
Students have to take at least four courses relevant to their College Core, College Electives, Majors, Major Electives, Gateway Education, Minors and Free Electives enrolled in CityU.
Courses selected must be approved by the Major Leaders (major programmes) or Minor Advisors (minor programmes) or Teaching Departments (e.g. Gateway Education outside CB departments) and the overseas universities.
Failure of two or more courses will automatically trigger notification to student's Head of Department and Major Leader.
Students must return to CityU on completion of the exchange period.
Tuition Fees and Other Fees
Participating students shall pay Tuition and Mandatory Fees to CityU.
Participating students shall be responsible for the following costs:

I am a graduate of an Associate Degree Programme and will be admitted to BBA 2-Year Programme (advanced standing 2) in the coming academic year. Can I apply the Student Exchange Programme in the second round application to be held in July?
You may apply in the main round application to be held in November during your Year 1 to study abroad in Year 2. According to the selection criteria of the Student Exchange Programme, students need to complete at least one year of study in bachelor's degree programme before commencing the exchange programme. In other words, you are eligible to study abroad in your final year since by that time you have completed one year of your BBA programme.
Do I need to defer my graduation if I joined the Student Exchange Programme? Deferment of graduation is not encouraged. You should prepare your course plan in consultation with your BBA major leader or minor advisor to ensure that credits you earned overseas could be transferred back to CityU in order to graduate on time. Normally graduating students will get the CityU official transcript in July. If you go on exchange in final semester of your final year (for students from 2-Year or 3-Year Programmes only), you will receive the official transcript of CityU in October. However, you will also be invited to attend the Congregation in November.
Is IELTS or TOEFL a must for application for the Student Exchange Programme?
You are required to take IELTS or TOEFL as the application requirement unless you choose to study in Mainland or Taiwan. Priority will be given to applicants who have satisfactory IELTS or TOEFL score before the submission deadline. The score should be valid (two years after the test date) until you make the registration for the host university once you are being selected as an exchange student.
When should I take IELTS or TOEFL?
You should attend IELTS or TOEFL according to our application schedule. You may fill in your test date on the online application form and submit the score report after the closure of the application according to the submission deadline. Submission of IELTS or TOEFL results after the submission deadline will NOT be considered. You are suggested to register IELTS or TOEFL as soon as possible because the quotas for each test are very limited. It takes about two weeks to get your score report after you finished the test.
Do I have to attend both the interviews for (i) College and Departmental Level Exchange Programmes and (ii) Institutional Level Exchange Programme?
No, you are required to attend the interviews for (i) only. If applicants performed satisfactorily in the interview and met the admission requirements of their target universities, each applicant may receive an offer from (i). Applicants who do not receive any offer for (i) will be nominated to apply for (ii).
Can I submit the IELTS or TOEFL report after the submission deadline?
Priority will be given to applicants who submit the report online before 31 July 2019. Late submission of report is still acceptable before 19 August 2019.
Should I go on exchange in Semester A or B?
Most partner universities welcome exchange students in either Semester A or B. However, some are restricted to specific semester only. Check out the exchange period of your target universities on the List of Universities.
What are the differences between Institutional-level, College-level and Departmental-level Exchange Programmes? What should I choose as my choices of university?
Institutional-level exchange places are open for application from all CityU full-time undergraduate students. Selected students can register courses offered by all the departments of the host university. College-level exchange places are open to all full-time CB BBA/BSc students. Selected students can register courses offered by college of business only. Departmental-level exchange places are generally open to full-time BBA/BSc students of the specific academic departments. Selected students can register courses offered by specific department only. In this regards, depends on the level of your programme, you may choose courses offered by the institution, college or department. In the Second Round Application, you have to apply the (i) College & Departmental Level Exchange Programme, but optional for (ii) Institutional Level Exchange Programme.
How I choose my target country/university?
You should consider the following when you choose your target university:
Can I meet the admission requirements of the overseas university, e.g. TOEFL or IELTS score, GPA requirement?
Are my required courses for credit transfer offered by the overseas university? You should consult your BBA major leader or minor advisor for your academic planning.
Can I afford the expenses of the exchange? Even if you are eligible for the Student Exchange Fund, it could only cover 30% to 40% of the total cost of living in overseas.
Do I have to fulfill any foreign language requirement (e.g. French, Spanish, Japanese) in order to be admitted by the overseas university?
All the special admission requirements (e.g. foreign language), if any, are specified on the List of Universities.
What can I do if I cannot attend the interview invited by CB for the College/Departmental Level Exchange Programmes?
Applicants who cannot attend our interview will not receive any offer from the (i) College/Departmental Level Exchange Programmes. If applicants applied (ii) Institutional Level Exchange Programme before mid-September 2019, they would receive an offer from (ii) before end of September 2019.
How much I will spend for my exchange study?
The cost of living during exchange depends greatly on the country/region, exchange rate and individual's needs. Estimated expenses can be found on the List of Universities or the homepage of the university.
How can I get in touch with returned exchange students (buddies) to share their experiences?
Sharing sessions will be organized around the application period and after the announcement of result. Buddies will be pleased to share with you the tips and experiences in studying abroad. Please refer to the application schedule. You may also contact the members of Exchange Student Club (ESC), who are returned exchange students of the previous year, to get more information on the overseas universities in order to prepare your study. You will also invited by the ESC to join the facebook group by country after you are being selected.
