IS postgraduate residential trip to Shenzhen

32 postgraduate students from the MSc Business Information Systems, MSc Information Systems Management and MSc Electronic Business and Knowledge Management programmes of the Department of Information Systems, together with the Business School of the University of Queensland (UQ Business School), completed a six-day residential trip in Shenzhen, China, from 3rd to 8th July.

BBA students win 2nd Place in Marketing Competition

[Source: CityU & CB News 8 August 2016] Two undergraduate students from the College together with three other local university students formed a team “404 not found” to participate in the CTgoodjobs Jumping Man 2016, providing marketing solutions for companies in Hong Kong. The team has awarded the first runner-up prize, out of over 50 participating teams. Participating teams were required to work out marketing solutions for a range of companies, including fundraising campaign for Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association, recruitment strategies for Hong Kong Aviation Ground Services Limited and branding initiatives for Adidas. They had to apply their marketing knowledge and to make use of social media platforms to achieve outstanding campaign results.

[Source: CityU & CB News 26 July 2016] A group of 22 undergraduate students from the Department of Information Systems took a summer study tour to learn about a popular topic Internet+, traveling to five cities – Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen, within 29 days. Highly subsidised and supported by the Department, the tour received positive feedback from the participants.

The exhibition was one of the key events under the CityU Entrepreneur Week (E-week) organised by the Innovation Commons. The E-week aims to promote entrepreneurship spirit in campus, in tandem with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Entrepreneur Day.

[Source:CityU & CB News] 19 May 2016 2 GBSM students’ achievements in the EYAcademy CSR Challenge Six CB undergraduate students excelled in the EYAcademy CSR Challenge 2016 and were awarded top prizes. With the theme “Better Living, Better World”, the challenge aimed to help students cultivate entrepreneurial skills by working on real-life business projects, with advice provided by their mentors. Over 100 students from local universities in the EYAcademy programme were divided into 10 teams and paired up with entrepreneurs from five outstanding start-up companies, to work on value proposition plans that can benefit the community and to suggest creative marketing solutions to promote the innovative products from the start-ups. The competing teams had to deliver appealing presentations and to address queries from judges and audience.
