Industry Onsite Workshop

An industrial onsite workshop to Golden Resources Group and Henderson Land Development Company Ltd was successfully held on 3 December 2015.

The workshop began by visiting the headquarter of Golden Resources Group which enabled MBA participants to get a real world experience of being the largest wholesaler and distributor in Hong Kong rice industry. The Golden Resources Group situated in Cheung Tat Road Tsing Yi, prides themselves of being the first company in Hong Kong rice industry to be awarded the official high quality symbol “Q mark” and to achieve this distinctive award, the company has to be certified by a number of international qualifications which included ISO9001, HACCP and ISO22000. Through the workshop, Mr Anthony Lam, Managing Director of Golden Resources Group shared with MBA participants not only the production procedure of rice products but also, how rice has be treated as commodity and came to affect not just our everyday lives as well as the world we live in. In addition, participants were invited to visit the laboratory to further understand the setup of quality examination process, the formulation of quality rice products according to consumers preferred taste and relevant cooking requirements.


The second part of the workshop commenced in the head office of Henderson Land Development Company Ltd, one of the land development giants in Hong Kong who has employed over 8500 staff. Mr Victor Chan, Head of Project Management provided MBA participants a brief establishment history of Henderson, an overview of several award winning property development projects ranging from the city landmark International Finance Centre (IFC) in Hong Kong and World Financial Centre in Beijing to residential properties including The Gloucester and Double Cove, followed by a presentation of the company’s newly announced redevelopment project, “Square Miles” in Tai Kok Tsui. This special project will be developed in four phases with a total gross floor area of 200,000 square feet aiming to launch in 2017. Apart from learning the design concepts and construction process involved, MBA participants were invited to visit the sales office and show room of Square Miles to get a real understanding of the sales procedure.

The industry onsite workshop was a great insight into learning for MBA participants about the organizational processes and challenges faced by the supply chain management giant and land development giant in Hong Kong.
