36 business executives from the Hong Kong Shanxi Chamber of Commerce (HKSCC) and Shanxi Province professionals visited CityU on 14th May. The event was organized by the Development Office of CityU to promote university and CB programmes.
A luncheon was held at 9/F of the Staff Lounge. Ms Kay Yuen, Manager of Mainland Relations of The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened the event as the keynote speaker.
Prof Paul K S Lam, Chief-of-Staff (Vice-President) of CityU, and Dr Gang Hao, Associate Vice-President of the Development Office of CityU, welcomed the guests by introducing the University with an opening video at the Academic 3 Senate Room.
Souvenir gifts from HKSCC and CityU were exchanged followed by Prof Houmin Yan’s, Dean of the College of Business, greetings to the guests. One executive asked: "When will CB partner with Shanxi universities to co-host a joint programme?” “Of course it is possible!” Prof Yan replied.
Prof Wenyu Dou, Associate Dean of the College of Business, introduced the College’s two focus areas: Research and Academic Education. On the research end, CB received the second most funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC) among the other Colleges and Schools of CityU. After the introduction, the group went on a tour to the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre of the School of Creative Media (CMC), to view the “Pure Land: Inside the Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang” 3D exhibition of ancient China at Gallery 360.
