City Seminar discusses the causes of global warming

Prof Johnny Chan, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment and Chair Professor of Atmospheric Science, explored the potential causes of Global Warming: Natural or Human-Induced? at Academic 3 on 9th January. The lecture was part of the City Seminar Series, organized by the College of Business.

Prof Chan shared his views on the following topics during the lecture:

  • The science of global warming
  • Global warming from a historical perspective
  • Natural vs human-induced global warming
  • Effects of global warming
  • Projection of future effects

He concluded the seminar with one key endnote, “Global warming is heightened by human activities, thus we must make every effort to slow down the warming.”

About the City Seminar

The City Seminar 香港席明納 has been initiated by Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, with the aim to discuss topics together (席Xí), to understand such topics in depth (明Míng), and to gain something of value from the discussions (納Nà).

The College will be inviting a number of professors and/or scholars to explore various topics during the series.
