Business Mentorship Programme benefits MBA students

The College of Business MBA Programme hosted the first MBA Mentor-Mentee meeting on 23rd November. A total of 19 mentors with experienced business background and 29 student mentees attended the event. Prof Kevin Chiang, Director of the MBA Programme, and Dr Ron Kwok, Assistant Dean (Career Service) of the College, were present to support the event.

“We aim to enhance the relationship and the learning experience between the mentor and the mentee by offering new arrangements.” said Dr Ron Kwok. “We divide our mentors and mentees into 12 groups, in which two to three students are assigned to two co-mentors. While the mentees can learn from their seniors, the two mentors can also be inspired by each other’s experience.”

The mentorship is formed according to students’ preference and mentors’ expertise. Over 90% of the mentors are CB alumni from the MBA, EMBA and DBA programmes. “We are pleased to see a close collaboration among different programmes in the college, achieving higher synergy when alumni from diverse background coming together.” said Dr Kwok.

Through various mentoring sessions and social activities organised in the academic year, the students can gain insights to plan for their career paths, broaden their exposure by connecting with the business community, and enhance their employability in the future through learning from their mentors.
