“CityU EMBA Association Charity Trust” Inauguration Ceremony cum CEO Forum



The inauguration ceremony of the “CityU EMBA Association Charity Trust” was held on 14th December. Established as a charitable and educational fund, the trust aims to strengthen the local and global connectivity of the CityU's EMBA Programme and to promote social responsibilities among its participants.

With more than 400 guests, including the management from CityU and the College of Business, key leaders from companies and associations in the business industry, current students and alumni from the MBA, EMBA and DBA programmes, and media, the ceremony was a resounding success providing networking opportunities and fostering discussion around issues in the business field.

“The foundation of the trust can promote better development of the EMBA Programme,”said Ms Alvine Suen, Chairlady of the EMBA Association. “Funds will be set up for scholarships or assisting deserving members of the association and students. We will also make donations and provide financial support to educational establishment approved by the trustees.Through the charity functions organised by the association, the trust targets to raise HKD one million each year.”

Prof Way Kuo, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityU, Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College of Business, and Dr John Leung, Director of the EMBA Programme, congratulated on the establishment of the trust, and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support of the EMBA Association.

The trust is an independent entity of the EMBA Association, led by Dr Haywood Cheung, the Honorary Chairman of the trust, along with eight trustees:

  • Alvine Suen, Chairlady of the EMBA Association
  • Ho Lai Chuen, Vice Chairman of the EMBA Association
  • Cathy Pang, Treasurer of the EMBA Association
  • Ramand Chan, Secretary of the EMBA Association
  • Marjorie Wan, Treasurer of the trust
  • Bobby Liu, Trustee
  • Peter Ko, Trustee
  • Eric Su, Trustee

Prof Houmin Yan, Prof Richard Ho, co-founder of the EMBA programme, Dr Gang Hao, Associate Vice-President (Mainland China Development) of CityU, and Dr John Leung are the Honorary Advisors to ensure proper guidance is in place for operation of the trust.

After the ceremony, Dr Haywood Cheung gave a presentation on“Free Trade Zone Opportunities – Foothold Qianhai, Exploit Worldwide” in the CEO Forum.

About the EMBA Association

Established in August 2000, the City University of Hong Kong EMBA Association provides a platform for the EMBA learning partners to share and learn from the experience of other professionals. The Association have more than 250 alumni from the EMBA programme which build a very strong network of senior executives and business leaders in Hong Kong.
