2016 CB Forum on internet finance in China


The College of Business organised a forum on 26th January at Shenzhen on the latest trends of Internet Finance and other economic policies in China. Over 200 participants attended the event.

Prof Paul Lam, Chief-of-Staff, opened the event with a welcome speech. Prof Lam emphasised that there are rapid growth and changes in China’s financial market, the forum could serve as a good platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge among experts in the industry.


Prof Leon Zhao, Chair Professor of Information Systems, shared with the audience the use of big data and financial analysis. He took the success of Alibaba as an example to illustrate the advantages of P2P lending and crowdfunding in business.  

The forum also invited Prof Maoqing Zhou, Vice-President of Research Department for Financial Leasing Industry of China Academy of Social Sciences, Mr Xiaowen Wu, President of Penging.com, and Mr Wenlong Zhou, Former Vice President of Index Research Institute at China Financial Information Center, to share topics such as the development of Renminbi (RMB) as well as the “One Belt One Road” initiative in China.

Mr William Hansen Yu, General Manager of Qianhai Zhongjin Group and current EMBA (Chinese) student, and Mr Guilin Lei, General Manager of Belldata Information Company Ltd, hosted the roundtable discussion sessions and invited reputable industrial leaders to discuss various business topics with the audience. The audience actively raised questions and exchanged views with the guest speakers.
