DBA programmes have fruitful retreat laying out road map for future

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programmes organised a retreat at Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong from 2nd to 3rd February. 23 DBA programmes faculty members and four administrative staff attended the event. The retreat reviewed the management strategies, progress and limitations of programmes, dissertation topics and possible synergy across programmes, new teaching incentives and directions in the new academic year.

Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, said in his opening remarks, “This is the first retreat since the DBA programmes were launched in 2006 and is the best time to look back what we have achieved over the past 10 years. I hope this retreat can help colleagues to exchange practices in teaching and stimulate discussions on how we can enhance the teaching quality and create synergy across different cohorts and programmes.”

“It is my vision to see our DBA programmes continue developing research that have more significant impact to society,” said Prof Yan.

Prof Kwok Kee Wei, Director of the CityU-Fudan DBA (IDBA) programme, and Prof Muammer Ozer, Director of the DBA programme, gave introductions about the two programmes respectively. They shared new directions and strategies for the future programme development.

Dr Xueping Wu, Associate Director of the DBA programme, proposed new ideas on how to increase collaborations among different programmes in the College.

The retreat ended with a fruitful sharing session moderated by Prof Ozer, with representatives from four faculty groups presented on topics including development and improvement on teaching, how to effectively guide students in finding dissertation themes, and ways to strengthen connections between DBA students and alumni with the College and the University, etc.
