GBSM Business Innovation Exhibition & Award Presentation 2016

GBSM Business Innovation Exhibition and Award Presentation was jointly organised by the Department of Information Systems, the Global Business Systems Management (GBSM) Programme and the Office of Education Development and Gateway Education (EDGE). The exhibition was one of the key events under the CityU Entrepreneur Week (E-week) organised by the Innovation Commons. The E-week aims to promote entrepreneurship spirit in campus, in tandem with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Entrepreneur Day.

The Exhibition showcased business innovations designed by students of the GBSM Programme, during their academic exchange trips in Europe, North America, Australia, Asia and the Greater China.    

In his opening remarks, Dr Ron Kwok Chi-wai, Assistant Dean (Career Services) and Associate Professor of Department of Information Systems, appraised the students for producing excellent projects and their abilities to overcome difficulties in the process. With the support from legal professionals, 31 outstanding student projects were successfully filed for short-term patents in Hong Kong, illustrating the high quality of these student innovations.

"I'm delighted to see our students fully demonstrate their skills and knowledge in information technology, and critically applied the knowledge in solving real-life problems during their exchange studies,” said Dr Kwok.

Dr Kwok also expressed his gratitude to Mr Alex Au and Mr Bill Hao Yufeng, for their efforts in giving professional legal advice to the students on patent application matters. Mr Au and Mr Hao were presented the Outstanding Service Awards by Dr Wei-thoo Yue, Associate Head of the Department of Information Systems.

Renee Au-yeung Ka-yin, Elton Lau Yan-ting, Eason Lin Yi-Hsiang and Hyejin Park were selected as the Outstanding Student Innovation Awardees, for their impressive projects.

The ceremony ended with the certificate presentation by Dr Ron Kwok and Ms Tania Lau Yuen-kei, Instructor of the Department of Information Systems, to the GBSM students who have shown great efforts in working out their proposals.
