Legislative Council President Hon Jasper Tsang Yok-sing discusses new types of work partnership


The College of Business EMBA Programme hosted a CEO Forum on 10th May and invited Hon Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, GBM, GBS, JP, President of the Legislative Council to share his views about leadership in Hong Kong.

In a speech titled "New Type of Partnership", Hon Tsang discussed his experiences and insights in achieving successful partnerships at work. He stressed that the qualities of trust, effective communication and involvement of stakeholders are crucial in working with partners at cross-purposes. Hon Tsang quoted the example of The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link Hong Kong Section project to illustrate the importance of reaching a comprimise among different stakeholders.

“It’s uneasy to work in a team, striving for balance of rights and interests among all the stakeholders including the government and the related parties, in accomplishing common work goals,” he said.         

Hon Tsang also emphasised the significance of the China’s One Belt One Road strategy and advised the audience to focus on how it benefits the economy. He told about his views on the establishment of an International PPP Specialist Centre of Excellence for Public Transport Logistics, which is a joint cooperation with UNECE, City University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University.

“The PPP Centre is a good form of partnership that brings stakeholders together, and helps to promote the One Belt One Road strategy in the community level, ” Hon Tsang said.

Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, Council Chairman of CityU, Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, Dr John Leung, Director of the EMBA Programme, Ms Rosita Shum, Vice Chairman of the Hear Talk Foundation, Ms Alvine Suen, Chairlady of the EMBA Association, and other EMBAA members including Ms Cathy Pang, Mr Eric Su and Mr Benny Yu also attended the event.
