2016 Annual Conference in International Finance

Co-organised by the Department of Economics and Finance and Global Research Unit of City University of Hong Kong and the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis of Imperial College London, the 2016 Annual Conference in International Finance was successfully held on 17th May at CityU. The conference was sponsored by Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation (孔慶熒及梁巧玲慈善基金).

The annual conference is designed for leading researchers to present recent studies on global financial market and to provide a platform for fruitful discussions among academics, policy makers and industry practitioners on finance related topics. Prof Giorgio Valente, Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance, was part of the organising committee of the event.

The keynote speakers and their speeches were:

  • Prof Andrew Karolyi, Professor of Finance, S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University, on the topic “Is the Public Corporation Really in Eclipse?”
  • Prof Marco Pagano, Professor of Economics, University of Naples Federico II, on the topic “ESBies: Safety in the Tranches”.

Dr Robert J. Richmond, of University of California, Los Angeles, was awarded the CFA Institute Best Paper Award for his paper titled “Trade Network Centrality and Currency Risk Premia”.
