Department of Marketing presents heart-touching concert to share positive messages to DSE students


The Department of Marketing invited a local band to organise De Tesla CityU Special - Within 10 Mins Concert, held on 8th June at Wong Cheung Lo Hui Yuet Hall at CityU, to spread positive messages to the Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) students. The five-member band De Tesla brought a two-hour music performance, together with real-life stories about DSE examinations, inspiring teenagers to pursue dreams.

Prof Way Kuo, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityU, Prof Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development & External Relations) and Chair Professor of Information Systems & E-Commerce,  Prof Julie Li Juan, Head of the Department of Marketing, Dr John Leung Wai-keung, Associate Professor, Dr Yanni Yan Mingping, Associate Professor, Mr Alex Koy-siong Tham, Senior Teaching Fellow attended the event. Many renowned business leaders including Mr Christopher Cheung Wah-fung, JP, a member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong, Mr Chan-wing Li, a veteran media and communication expert, Mr Fu Lin, CEO of Tibet Water Resources Holdings Ltd, Mr Albert Oung, Founder and President of the World Green Organisation, school principals and other honourable guests also joined the concert and showed great support to the band.


Dr John Leung told about the positive feedback of the concert, “Many DSE students and their parents came to the concert. The teenagers were touched by the stories shared by the band, and believed these stories represented their voices. They would like their parents and society to hear about.”

“The Marketing Department hopes to give inspirations to young people through this meaningful event.  We hope the audiences would get encouraged and do not afraid to work towards their dreams,” Dr Leung said.  

The De Tesla is an independent local band. It is formed with a mission to spread positive energy through singing original songs and telling real-life stories, encouraging people to overcome challenges and adversities with courage.
