Department of Management organises career workshop 2017


Onto its second year, the Department of Management held a career workshop, themed “Explore, Connect and Succeed: How to Build a Successful Career” on 23rd April at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. The workshop attracted over 150 students from the Department to participate in and received positive feedback. Top company representatives were invited to give insights on how to build a successful career. Topics including interview preparation, career planning, and self-development were covered in the workshop.

In her opening remarks, Dr Christina Sue-Chan, Associate Head of the Department of Management, shared her own story in identifying the right career and encouraged students to learn from the experiences from business leaders and alumni. Dr Sue-Chan also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to all the company partners and alumni for supporting the event.

With over 20 years of brand management experience, Ms Doreen Cheng, Director of the Sales and Marketing Division at Mannings, gave an inspiring talk on how to truly understand oneself when finding career path.

Mr Victor Ching, Director of Milestone Talent Development Center and Director of Child Psychological Department Association, provided useful interview tips to students and pointed out three main attributes which contributed to success: attitude, skills and knowledge.

Dr Andy Kwan, Instructor of the Department of Management, facilitated the alumni panel discussion. Alumni Ms Helen Lo, Ms Kathy Ko, Mr Don Chan and Ms Stella Wong, have been serving management positions in sizable organisations in Hong Kong, and gave their advice on interview preparation to students who are ready to seek for employment after graduation.
