Young Scholars Programme study tour in Seoul


A group of 28 students from the College's Young Scholars Programme (YSP) returned from a study tour in Seoul, 22nd – 27th May. Dr Christoph SchneiderAssistant Professor of the Department of Information Systems , led the trip.

The group was hosted by Seoul National University, and had visited a number of Korean corporations including MBC Broadcasting, KBS Broadcasting, Amore Pacific,Hyundai Motors Factory and Studio, Hyundai Heavy Industry, Samsung Electronics, and the KRX Korea Exchange.

Besides, the group visited Korea University and Yonsei University, and had networking sessions with business students there. They also enjoyed some cultural excursions during the tour, such as visiting the National Assembly, Busan Traditional Market, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, and making the traditional food kimchi.

Edmund Ho Wing-chun, BBA Accountancy and one of the YSP members, shared his experience, We had very good time visiting some remarkable corporations such as the financial market-KRX Exchange, automobile-Hyundai motor, to name but a few. It was also a great experience to interact with the local students from the top three universities in South Korea."

About the Young Scholars Programme

The College launched the Young Scholars Programme in 2009 with the aim of nurturing outstanding undergraduate students to become future leaders in the region/world. The programme provides the following opportunities:

  • Overseas study tour during Year 1 summer break
  • Leadership training and other workshops for whole-person development
  • Networking with top business students admitted locally and overseas
  • Professional mentorship provided by professors and/ or professional practitioners
  • Cultivation of social responsibility through community services and voluntary work
