CityU Congregation and College Graduation Ceremony 2017

University held its Congregation for the Conferment of Degrees on 11th November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Prof Way Kuo, CityU President, presided at the congregation. A total of 2,429 academic awards were conferred to the College of Business graduates, including Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, Doctor’s degrees and Research degrees.

Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, presided at the College Graduation Ceremony, which was held in the afternoon at CityU, for the MBA, EMBA, DBA, MPhli, and PhD programmes. Prof Yan gave his congratulations to all the graduates at the ceremony, and wished them every success in building future careers and shaping our common future.

In addition, Dr Alvin Leung, Assistant Professor of the Department of Information Systems, was presented the College of Business Teaching Excellence Award 2017; while Dr Hailiang Chen, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Systems, and Dr Catherine Lam, Associate Professor of the Department of Management, were presented the College of Business Research Excellence Award 2017. These awards were given to faculty members in recognition of their achievements and contributions in teaching and research areas.

Four outstanding alumni, Prof Haiyang Li, Professor of the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University, USA; Prof Yonggui Wang, Dean and Professor of Business School, University of International Business and Economics, China; Ms Alvine Suen Yee-ming, General Manager, Inchcape JDH; and Mr Roy Ting Chi-wai, Director of Wine’s Link Limited, were presented the College of Business Distinguished Alumni Awards in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the College and society.

Graduate representative from the MBA programme, Ity Nurun, addressed at the ceremony. She expressed her heartiest gratitude to families, teachers and classmates for their unfailing support throughout the important journey of university life.
