BBA students sweep competition at Hong Kong Undergraduate Financial Planners of the Year Award 2017


Three student teams from the Department of Economics and Finance and Department of Accountancy, were named Champion, 2nd runner-up, 3rd runner-up and Best Presenter in the Hong Kong Undergraduate Financial Planners of the Year Award 2017, which was organized by the Society of Registered Financial Planners. 

The champion team JEHL comprised Business Economics student Yuqian Deng, Finance students Minwen Pan and Chenkai Zhan, and Accountancy student Jiaming Wei. Yuqian Deng also earned the Best Presenter Award, with her outstanding presentation performance. "I am lucky to have teamed up with a group of marvelous classmates. We always came up with fascinating ideas to develop the proposal, and worked hard for presentation," Yuqian said.

Other two groups of CB students, Team Zero and Team Wolverine, were named 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner-up, respectively:

The annual competition attracted 62 teams of students from local universities this year. The participating teams needed to go through a total of three rounds of competition, for which a submission of a detailed financial proposal of a real-life financial planning case and a video presentation of their written financial proposals were asked. In the final, the selected teams needed to give a presentation on the topic “How to beat or cope with ChatBot in the AI transformation in financial planning industry”.

Dr Stephanie Fan, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance, advised the student teams during the competition.
