CB hosts lectures for 30 students from University of Minnesota

As part of its Global IT and Entrepreneurship programme, 30 students from the Carlson School of Management of University of Minnesota had a study visit at CityU on 18 May 2019. The one-day programme was hosted by the Executive Education unit of the College of Business.

Professor Brian Boyd, Chair Professor of Strategic Management, delivered a lecture themed “China Business: An Introduction” in which he introduced the latest business and social development in China. Students enjoyed an interactive and informative lecture, and they got a chance to learn about China’s role in the modern world by comparing its development among various nations and data extracted from different indexes. Professor Boyd also discussed on Chinese culture and terminologies including “Mianzi (reputation or dignity in social contexts)” and “Guanxi (relationship)”, and shared his personal experience in Beijing and other cities in China.

A campus tour led by CB students was arranged after the lecture. As University of Minnesota is an exchange partner of CityU, students were very interested in the study life at CityU and Hong Kong.
