City Seminar on humanism and four great philosophers


Mr Alexander Pann, founding director of the HK Policy Research Institute, delivered a talk on Humanism and Four Great Philosophers at City Seminar on 20 September 2019.

Professor Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, kicked start the seminar with a warm welcome remark. He was delighted to have Mr Pann as the 33rd speaker in the City Seminar series talking on humanism and the greatest philosophers in history.

In the talk, Mr Pann shared his view towards Socrates, Buddha, Confucius and Jesus in human development. And how their philosophies inspired great leaders from generation to generation.

Mr Pann graduated from the National Taiwan University with a major in International Economics in 1972, and completed his MBA degree in New York University's Graduate School of Business Administration in 1977. He is the co-founder of the Taiwan and Hong Kong Exchange Association and Cross-Strait Peace and Development Federation. He also served as the policy advisor to President Ma Ying-jeou.

About City Seminar
The City Seminar 香港席明納 was initiated by Professor Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, with an aim to discuss topics together (席Xí), to understand such topics in depth (明Míng), and to gain something of value from the discussions (納Nà). Professors and/or scholars are invited to explore a wide range of topics during the series.
