CityU welcomes delegation from RANEPA


The Executive Education Programme unit of College of Business and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) co-organised the executive programmes on the topics “Issues of Improving the Quality of Education” at CityU from 28 October to 1 November. Participants included 25 senior Russian government officials from Presidential Executive OfficeState DumaMinistry of Education, Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science, as well as Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation. 

The event marks the 7th time that CityU and RANEPA have co-organised programmes together since a long-term strategic partnership was established in 2012.

The intensive five-day programme covered topics such as Work Integrated Education, Gifted Education in Hong Kong, Forward-looking Education and more. There were also visits to the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, American School of Hong Kong, Education Bureau, Civil Service Training and Development Institute, Hong Kong Education City, and the Education University of Hong Kong.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr Maxim Nazarov, Vice-Rector of RANEPA, said education was placed among the top priorities in Russia and the executive programme would inspire Russian officials to tackle related issues and challenges. Professor Julie Li, Associate Provost (Academic Planning and Undergraduate Education) and Professor in the Department of Marketing at CityU, stressed the importance of education as a key to success for every country and region. Professor Li also delivered the first keynote speech entitled “Efficient University Management and Administration”.

Other speeches and seminars were delivered by experts and scholars including Professor Eddie Ng Hak-kim, former Secretary for Education in Hong Kong, Dr Edmond Yau Kwok-kwong, Director of The Centre of National History Education (Hong Kong) and Prof Houmin Yan, Acting Dean of College of Business.
