CB students excel in creativity @ Discovery Festival

The 2015 Discovery Festival took place on campus from 10th to 12th March to present students and faculty achievements in the areas of discovery, innovation, and creativity fostered by the Discovery-enriched Curriculum (DEC).

The event kicked-off with an Opening Ceremony cum Teaching Excellence Awards Presentation. The University was honoured to invite the Honorary Woon-kwong Lam, Convenor of the Non-Official Members of the Executive Council, and Ms Mabel Cheung Yuen-ting, film director and producer, as the officiating guests. They were accompanied by Prof Way Kuo, President, Prof Arthur Ellis, Provost, Prof Horace Ip Ho-shing, Vice-President (Student Affairs), and Mr William Khoo Wun-fat, Vice-Chairman of Convocation.

Students from the College of Business demonstrated their creativity and discoveries in My Own Discovery contest. Certificates were presented during the ceremony in recognition of their innovative ideas.

The VOICE - Sign Language Translation Device

The VOICE is a sign language translation tool to help the speech-impaired to communicate by translating gestures into audible electronic voice.

Artourment

Artourment is a social enterprise providing two types of services – Scholarship and Job Referral, to support young people who wish to pursue study in the area of music, and search for music related jobs.

  • Ka-yue Ng, Year 3 BBA in Banking and Financial Services

The festival also offered a series of events, including Majors and Minors Fair, International Culture Carnival, and music performance, and competitions to students to help them in academic planning and majors & minors selection. Ms Chiamin Fung, Business Manager (Career Management) of the College, was invited to deliver a talk to all Year 1 students on Choosing A Major You Really Want.

Apart from University organized events, the College of Business also hosted several activities such as departmental information seminars, programme exhibitions, major and minor talks, and tea reception gatherings for students with the support from the six departments.
