BBA student wins merit award at the Hong Kong Challenge Cup

Mickey Cheung Hoi-kei, BBA Marketing student, won the merit award at the Challenge Cup: Hong Kong University Students Extra-curriculum Technology Contest 2015. The contest was organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association, a charity that provides opportunities for youth to cultivate and develop themselves.

Applicants submitted technology inventions or research theses on natural science for the competition. Mickey won a merit award under the Life Science category with his invention 3 in 1 Utensil. An exhibition was held in late August at the AsiaWorld-Expo to showcase the applicants’ inventions or research.

“During my exchange in Europe, I have been exposed to tons of creative ideas. This competition gave me a chance to showcase what I have observed and inspired in the other parts of the world!” said Mickey.

Another CityU team also won a merit award under the Energy and Chemical category:

Research: Feasibility of Introducing Wasted Oil Generated Biofuel to Motor Vehicles in Hong Kong
Ava Chan Sum-po, BSc in Applied Biology
Kennis Chan Ka-yan, BEng in Energy Science and Engineering
Daisy Chan Sze-yan, BEng in Energy Science and Engineering
Stanley Lam Man-sing, BEng in Energy Science and Engineering

The College fully supports the University’s Discovery-enriched Curriculum (DEC) which emphasizes on discovery, innovation, and creativity. Under DEC, our students are encouraged to develop their creativity and make an original discovery while at CityU.

Congratulations to the winners!
