Situated in the historical and picturesque city of Suzhou (i.e., Soochow), a well-reputed metropolis in the world for its classical gardens, Soochow University is a national key institute. With three major campuses (Tiancizhuang, Dushu Lake, and Yangcheng Lake), Soochow University encompasses an area of 250 hectares.
Soochow University, founded in 1900, is the first-class member in the “2011 Program” and a top comprehensive university in China. The University was ranked top 11 and 62 in mainland China and worldwide, respectively, in the Nature Index, the top 26 in China in the US News Best Colleges Rankings, and the top 30 in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Soochow University holds 26 colleges, schools, and departments and offers degrees in Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Management, and Arts to serve more than 40,000 full-time students. More than 5,000 faculty members are working for 131 undergraduate programs, 254 graduate programs, among which 196 disciplines authorized to offer doctorate degrees. The School of Business is offering challenging programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. levels. The school has two doctoral programs of Applied Economics and Business Administration as the Level I disciplines, and additional eight doctoral programs at the Leven II disciplines in Finance, Big data and Fintech, Public Finance, Regional Economics, Enterprise Management, Accounting, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics and 14 master’s programs. The school is also offering nine undergraduate majors in Finance, Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Financial Management, e-Commerce, International Trade, and Marketing. The school’s Application Economics program is the key program in Jiangsu Province’s 13th Five-Year Plan, and its Business Administration program is Jiangsu Province’s preponderant program. The Finance program is a key brand program in Jiangsu Province, while the Accounting major is the Province’s featured program. To serve over 2,500 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students, the school has partnered with 19 overseas universities in 10 countries and regions, including University of Columbia, Rutgers University, University of New Mexico, Western University (Canada), University of Victoria, Monash University, Coventry University, Cafoscari University of Venice, SKEMA, Wollongong University (Dubai), and Taiwan Soochow University. In summers, the school invites outstanding professors from Harvard University, University of California Berkeley, Wharton School, New York University, University of Michigan, University of British Columbia to offer classes on advanced methodologies and research frontiers.
The School of Business has hired the best and most innovative faculty of 139 from the globe, such as Arizona State University, University of Maryland, Rutgers University, Humboldt University of Berlin, University of New South Wales, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, University of Hull, Korea University, National University of Singapore, and among others. In addition, the school also has two academicians from Columbia University and University of California Berkeley as the guest chair professors and distinguished professors from University of Texas at Dallas, University of New Mexico, Towson University, East Carolina University, University of Houston, and University of Wisconsin Milwaukee as the visiting professors or oversea department chairs. The faculty have published in top-tier journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, Journal of Management Information Systems, Transportation Research Part B, and among others. In 2018, twelve research projects of the faculty were supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Social Science Foundation of China.
