On August 24, 2012, Dr. KC Lim, Director of Undergraduate Programs, Department of Economics and Finance, College of Business at the City University of Hong Kong kicked off a lecture for a group of "Junior Financial Secretaries". Dr. Lim provided an overview of the various Bachelor degree programs offered in the College of Business, internationalization aspects of CityU in its student body, and the Discovery Enriched Curriculum.
Following Dr. K.C. Lim's overview, Mr. Albert Ip, Adjunct Professor of City University and Member of the Investment Task Group at The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong delivered a 2-hour lecture to a group of "Junior Financial Secretaries" on financial management and investments, education and professional work experience sharing and the challenges of Hong Kong as an International Financial Center. The Junior Financial Secretaries were chosen after a series of competitions participated by 68 students from 34 schools who are mostly enrolled in Form 4. "Junior Financial Secretary" is a project sponsored by the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers. As in the past, these young financial secretaries will be scheduled to meet with the Honorable Financial Secretary John Tsang or someone at his office to convey their ideas and suggestions to make Hong Kong an even more successful financial center.

The lecture was interactive and students benefitted from the active dialogue with Mr. Ip. Mr. Ip advised students to start saving early, have a well-defined investment plan to suit individuals' needs and be diversified in one's investment portfolio. On the education front, Mr. Ip advised students to enroll in a broad range of subjects, not only focus on one's strengths, but also realize one's weaknesses and build on them. Mr. Ip believes that Hong Kong needs to enhance its infrastructure which includes the building of a third runway for the airport and expand listing opportunities for high-quality overseas companies in addition to those from the huge neighboring economy of China.
The College of Business at CityU wishes these young financial secretaries the best in their future education careers.
