“My Interfaces with the Belt and Road Initiative” Integrated Abilities Competition

The 2018 "My Interfaces with the Belt and Road Initiative" Integrated Abilities Competition (the Competition) was held on Saturday, 3rd February 2018 at City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Specialists of Belt and Road Pioneer conducted the thematic sessions in the morning. Speakers including Professor Houmin Yan (Director of UNECE International PPP Centre of Excellence for Public Transport Logistics), Mr. Nicolas Kwan (Director of Research, Hong Kong Trade Development Council), Professor Thomas Chan (Director of One Belt One Road Research Institute, Chu Hai College of Higher Education), Professor Terence Chong (Executive Director of Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance, The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Dr. Justina Yung (Manager of Belt and Road Liaison Unit, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) and Dr. Wilson Chan (Host of “Belt and Road General Education”, Metro Radio).

Thematic Session by Prof. Houmin Yan

In the afternoon session, the former Chairman of the Council of City University of Hong Kong, officiating guest of the prize presentation at the finals, Mr. Herman Hu Shao-ming, BBS, JP, pointed out that youths should get to know the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) the soonest the better. "We have established a cross-regional cultural exchange platform for the youths. Believing that students should have a dream, we encourage them to show concerns for national and global issues, and to seek opportunities for future development." He hoped to continue promoting the competition in the schools and let more students know the importance of BRI and Hong Kong’s advantages.

Mr. Herman Hu Shao-ming, BBS, JP

Munsang College, Yan Chai Hospital Wong Wha San Secondary School, Rhenish Church Pang Hok-ko Memorial College and Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College have won the Champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner-up by their outstanding performance respectively. The Silk Road Exploration into the Kingdom of Thailand will be organized in July 2018, the Honorable Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBS, JP will lead a group of winners to Thailand with an objective to understand a cross boundary Belt and Road project — Eastern Economic Corridor. Meanwhile, the group will visit to Asian Institute of Technology and China-Asean International College of Dhurakij Pundit University.

The competition is jointly organized by Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association Alliance, New Territories Association of Societies, Federation of New Territories Youth, One Belt One Road Research Institute of Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Research Centre on One-Belt-One-Road of CityU, Research Centre for Sustainable Hong Kong of CityU, Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance of CUHK and Macau "One Belt, One Road" Research Centre of City University of Macau.
