Dr. Hu received her Ph.D. in Accounting from the National University of Singapore in 2018. Her research interests mainly include tax, big data, and financial accounting. 

She led the reform of the Accounting Information System course to make it data analytics-oriented. She was nominated for the University Teaching Excellence Award. She is also a guest speaker on AI accounting at education forums organized by HKUST and CUHK respectively. 

She received several research and teaching grants. She is currently the P-I and project coordinator for the grant "Sustainability Meets Technology: A Novel Approach of Sustainability Education through a Student-led ESG Analytics Platform" (IICA-TDG, amount $985,099, from 2023-2025). 

Professionally, Dr. Hu received the Deloitte Tax Championship (First Runner-up) in 2008.
