Night Markets
During the 14-day study tour, we was studying hard and “playing hard”. We visited nearly all of famous night markets in Taiwan. Most of the markets operate daily and feature a mixture of individual stalls, which sell consumer goods, snacks and drinks. We have visited Shida Night Market, Shilin Night market, Gong Guan Night Market, Tamsui Night Market, Night Market in YongKang Street in Taipei and Miaokou Night Market in Keelung. As we said before, everything you have heard of, we have tried.

Tamsui
Tamsui Township is a popular site for sunset viewing. Thousands of couples flock to Lover Bridge of Tamsui to share the romantic moments. It is one of the Taiwan Eight Scenery and nicked as Eastern Venice. Tamsui has some of the most delicious food in Taiwan too.

National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
After President Chiang Kai-shek died on 5 April 1975, the Executive Yuan of Taiwan’s government established a Funeral Committee to build a memorial hall. Taiwan’s move to democracy since the 1990s has inspired the Green Camp government leaders. They renamed the memorial park into “Taiwan Democracy Park” and the inscription on the main gate was changed to Liberty Square, which is an act of desinicization.
Dr. Tony Shieh presented us the development of Memorial Hall and the renaming process under the flagpole of Liberty Square.

Yilan Plain is located in Northeastern Taiwan which is famous for its beautiful sceneries of sea. There also are many forests and falls. The most famous food here is candied fruits which means fruits saturated with sugar.

Yingge & Kanpei
Taipei County’s Yingge Ceramics Museum is a famous museum, which exhibits various kinds of ceramics from time to time. Recently, it is holding a Creative Tableware Competition and Exhibition. There are also live ceramics making shows for the visitors.
Kanpei is a Japanese restaurant, which is famous for its funny traditions. People in the restaurant can get free drinks if they Kaipei at 8pm. Also, customers have to introduce themselves to others in the restaurant. People who play the game of “Kiss 10 seconds” can get a dish of free meat too.

We had a very happy night in the farewell dinner before we left Taipei. The farewell buffet was held in a luxury hotel. Dr. Shieh and Dr. Li all gave us impressive speech that many of us were deeply moved and reluctant to leave Taipei. After 14 days, we have developed some emotions with the city and NTU. We loved Taipei and we hope to visit Taipei again.
