Professor Xiaowei Zang joined CityU as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences in August 2013. He was Professor of Chinese Studies and Head of the School of East Asian Studies at the University of Sheffield between 2008 and 2013. He studies ethnicity, gender, and elite politics in China and has produced more than 120 research outputs including 13 books and edited volumes.

臧教授自2013年8月加入香港城市大學，擔任人文社會科學院院長。

他於2008至2013年間在英國謝菲爾德大學擔任中國研究講座教授，同時為謝菲爾德大學東亞學院院長。他主要研究少數民族，性別和中國的精英政治。臧教授已發表了120多份研究成果，當中包括5 本專著和13本編著。
