Professor Jenny Lau graduated from the University of Hong Kong with an Honours BSc degree in Physics. She received her Ph.D. in Cinema from Northwestern University, USA. She is recorded in "Who's Who in America" as the first Chinese to obtain a Ph.D. in Cinema. Professor Lau is a Cinema Professor at the California State University, San Francisco. She is currently a Visiting Professor at the School of Creative Media in City University.  Her expertise is in International Cinema with a sub-specialty in Pan-Chinese Cinema. She has published scholarly work and directed award winning experimental narrative films. 

劉教授畢業於香港大學，獲物理學榮譽學士學位。她在美國西北大學取得電影博士學位。她是首位被記錄在“誰是誰在美國”獲得電影博士學位的華人。劉教授為加州州立大學的電影教授。她目前是香港城市大學創意媒體學院的客座教授。她的專長是國際電影，附屬專科則為泛中國電影。除了出版學術著作，由劉教授執導的實驗敘事電影亦有獲得獎項。
