EMBA Association Trust Fund to be established

Over 140 students, guests, alumni and faculty attended the EMBA Association (“EMBAA”) Annual Dinner 2015 at The Excelsior hotel on 25th April. The 11th annual dinner themed Life as Play vs Play as Life, was hosted by the EMBAA and supported by the EMBA programme. Mr Michael HUI, JP (許冠文), Hong Kong actor, comedian, film scriptwriter and director, was invited as the guest speaker.

Following a cocktail reception, Ms Alvine Suen, Chairman of the EMBAA opened the event by delivering a welcoming speech. Mr Herman Hu, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Council of CityU, Dr John Leung, Programme Director of EMBA programme, also welcomed the guests and thanked the stakeholders’ support and sponsorships.

EMBAA Annual Dinner is held every year to provide a platform for CityU EMBA participants, alumni, academia, and practitioners to meet and exchange views with influential and highly-respected leaders. We believe that quality education plays an important role here in nurturing talents to be thoughtful professionals and leaders who will care for and contribute to the livelihood and social well-being of the society. We need creative people and innovative approaches to meet current and future challenges. Mr Hu commented.

A series of activities including lucky draws, singing performances and souvenirs presentation were arranged during the dinner. An auction event was also conducted and raised over HK$400,000. Dr Haywood Cheung, alumnus of the EMBA and DBA programme, and his wife, Dr Jennifer Cheung, alumnus of the DBA programme, donated HK$1,000,000 to the EMBAA. All the donations will be managed by the EMBAA Trust Fund for charity, development of the College and EMBA programme, as well as funding the EMBA scholarships and teaching awards.

About the EMBA Association

EMBAA was established in 2000 by a group of EMBA alumni and is supported by the College’s EMBA programme. It serves as a platform for students and alumni to share and exchange learning and working experience of different professions. It has accumulated over 300 alumni members.
