To provide opportunities to expand their cultural awareness and gain international perspectives, students will have a guaranteed 5-day global learning tour to University of Cambridge, UK.

The CityUHK Global EMBA programme concluded its 5-day Global Learning Tour at the University of Cambridge from 28 May – 1 June. Accompanied by Programme Director Prof. Michael Wong, the student cohort participated in an intensive, immersive academic and professional development curriculum hosted by the Cambridge Judge Business School.

Academic Curriculum and Faculty Insights

Led by Prof. Michael Kitson (Associate Professor in International Macroeconomics and Assistant Director of the Centre for Business Research) and other Cambridge faculty members, the academic sessions focused on the strategic frameworks and macrotrends influencing global commerce. Key seminar topics included:

  • Ecosystem Edge: Sustaining Competitiveness

    Experiential Site Visits and Corporate Briefings

    To bridge theoretical frameworks with practical industry application, the itinerary included several site visits and exclusive executive briefings across diverse sectors:

  • Corporate insights from semiconductor and software design firm ARM Limited, featuring an exclusive discussion with one of its co-founders.
  • A briefing by Tuspark detailing the strategic opportunities and operational challenges faced by Chinese enterprises expanding into the United Kingdom market.
  • A guided tour of the biopharmaceutical ecosystem at The Wellcome Trust Genome Campus.
  • A study of the commercial strategy and economics of sports entertainment, complemented by a stadium tour of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
  • A company visit and factory tour at H. Forman & Son, Britain’s oldest family-owned salmon smokery and artisan food producer.

    Cultural Engagement and Networking

    The tour also provided opportunities for cultural immersion and professional networking within the University of Cambridge ecosystem. Activities included a guided architectural tour of King’s College Chapel, a punting tour on the River Cam, and formal networking dinners at Gonville and Caius College. The programme concluded with a closing Gala Dinner and certificate presentation ceremony held at Madingley Hall, which featured an address by guest speaker Lord Richard Wilson of Dinton.
