CityU MBA SHARP Forum – The Digital Tsunami: Surviving & Thriving Through Digital Disruption

We are proud to launch the CityU MBA SHARP Forum with three forward-thinking speakers: Mr. Sean Seah, Head of Digital Experience of HSBC; Mr. Win Mak, CEO of Mirum Hong Kong and Mr. Alan Yip, CEO and Co-founder of Guru Online (Holdings) Ltd. on 1 December 2016. Jointly organised, facilitated, and boosted by students, faculty, and industry experts, the forum attracted over 100 audiences from the CityU community and interested public.

Kick-started with an opening speech by Prof. Yan Houmin, Dean of College of Business, the three speakers shared how digital evolution changes our daily life under the new wave of technology and generated a good panel discussion on how to cope with the changes with the audience through an interactive online platform arranged by the student organising committee.

With this platform, audiences raised their own questions by smart phones, they could also see questions submitted by others in real time and voted for the most interested questions for answers. The student organisers made use of the existing technology to demonstrate digitalisation through experience to the audiences.

To cope with the digital evolution, the speakers encouraged the young generation with the following tips as a summary of the evening:

"Stay resilient. Whatever comes, take it and learn from it." Mr. Sean Seah, Head of Digital Experience of HSBC

"Let go your ego and put words into actions." Mr. Win Mak, CEO of Mirum Hong Kong

"Be open. Be proactive. To proact before the trends set instead of to react years after the trend is confirmed." Mr. Alan Yip, CEO and Co-founder of Guru Online (Holdings) Ltd.
