Second Major Scholarships

Regulations

The Department of Marketing has agreed to establish two annual scholarships by using the available funding in the Non-UGC Reserves (Departmental) with effect from the 2018/2019 academic year. The following regulations shall apply as of 2020/2021:

  • The Scholarships shall be known as “The Department of Marketing Second Major Scholarships” (市場營銷學系第二主修獎學金).
  • There shall be a maximum of TWO awards per academic year. The value of each award shall be HK$5,000.
  • The Scholarships shall be awarded to not more than two full-time undergraduate students with their second major in Marketing in City University of Hong Kong.
  • Students who are approved to take a second major in Marketing can apply. Eligible applicants should have completed at least 15 credits in second major requirements. Selection shall be based on the academic performance. Awardees should have acquired a minimum CGPA of 3.5 at the time of application and are ranked the highest two in terms of CGPA among the applicants.
  • Awardees can only be awarded the scholarship once throughout their undergraduate study.
  • Nominations from the Department of Marketing shall reach the Student Development Services by March and the award will be made before the end of April each year.
  • The first installment (50%) of the award will normally be released to the awardee after confirmation of the award. The second installment (50%) will normally be released to the awardee within two months after confirmation of award classification and completion of the Second Major by Examination Boards of School/ College respectively.
  • Confirmation will be sought from the Department of Marketing before September each year on whether or not the Scholarship shall be continued for the following academic year.

Remark :
With an objective to nurture our students and to promote caring culture, the Community Relations Committee of the University Council has recommended that each award recipient is expected to make an annual donation of at least HK$200 to City University of Hong Kong for student support via CityU Alumni Giving Club when they are in employment after graduation. This term has been incorporated into all scholarship/prize/award/bursary schemes, whether they are donated by external donors or contributed by University funding, with effect from February 2008.
