Outstanding Student Scholarships


Regulations

The Department of Marketing has agreed to establish two annual scholarships by using the available funding in the Non-UGC Reserves (Departmental) with effect from the 1998/1999 academic year. The following regulations shall apply as of 2020/2021:

  • The Scholarships shall be known as “The Department of Marketing Outstanding Student Scholarships” ( 市場營銷學系傑出學生獎學金 ).
  • There shall be two awards and the value of each award and shall be HK$10,000 per annum.
  • The Scholarships shall be awarded to two full-time undergraduates pursuing their 3rd and 4th year of studies majored in Marketing . Selection shall be based on the performance achieved in the following aspects in the previous year :
    • academic performance in BBA Marketing;
    • proven leadership, organizational ability, and other personal qualities;
    • active participation in extra-curricular activities; and
    • provision of service to fellow students, institutions or the community.
  • A selection panel will be set up by the Department of Marketing in October. A short-list of candidates will be invited to attend an interview from which the selection panel will choose the scholarship winners. Nominations from the Department of Marketing shall reach the Student Development Services by February and the awards will be made before the end of March each year.
  • Confirmation will be sought from the Department of Marketing before July each year on whether or not the Scholarships shall be continued for the following academic year.

Remark :
With an objective to nurture our students and to promote caring culture, the Community Relations Committee of the University Council has recommended that each award recipient is expected to make an annual donation of at least HK$200 to City University of Hong Kong for student support via CityU Alumni Giving Club when they are in employment after graduation. This term has been incorporated into all scholarship/prize/award/bursary schemes, whether they are donated by external donors or contributed by University funding, with effect from February 2008.
