1. What is the admission process of the two streams?

  • The two streams have different admission process. For QAB, only those applicants who state QAB as their first preference will be considered for admission to the QAB stream. For further inquiry about IAM, please contact the corresponding department.

2. Do I need a statistic or programming background for applying to the program?

  • We do not require any statistic or programming backgrounds. As long as you have passion, you are strongly encouraged to enroll in our stream.

3. What versions of IELTS or TOEFL do you accept?

  • a score of 79 (Internet-based test) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)@#; or

  • an overall band score of 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS)@

  • For IELTS test, the version of "Academic" will be accepted for fulfilling EPR. IELTS (UKVI) (Academic) for UK student visa application is also acceptable. However, the version of "General Training" is NOT accepted. Please check the top right corner of the IELTS result report.

  • For mainland candidates, you may submit your CET6 score.

  • If you do not have the IELTS/TOEFL result at the time of application, you may still submit the online application stating your expected date of obtaining the result. Please then take your English test as soon as possible and upload the official results to your application account once available. Conditional offers, if any, may be made to applicants, stipulating a specific score to be obtained as a requirement for admission.

@ TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years. Applicants are required to provide their English test results obtained within the two years preceding the start of the University's application period.

# Applicants are required to arrange with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to send their TOEFL results directly to the University. The TOEFL institution code for CityU is 3401.

4. What is the cumulative GPA requirement?

  • We require minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on 4.0 scale). Most admitted candidates have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above.

5. What is the GRE or GMAT requirement?

  • We do not require GRE or GMAT for 2022 intake.

6. How many reference letters do you require?

  • Reference letter is optional. Please upload it to the application system as additional information, or ask your referrer to send reference letter directly to Schools of Graduates Studies (tpadmit@cityu.edu.hk) during application period.

7. How should I upload supporting documents to the online portal?

  • The applicants have to upload documents to the online portal by themselves. Kindly be noted that there is limited space; thus, you are advised to compress or reduce the size before uploading. Once the files are uploaded, no deletion is allowed. Therefore, you should be very selective in the supporting documents.

8. How can I submit supplement documents after submitting my application?

  • Usually only the uploaded documents will be reviewed. However, if you still have extra files, please directly send to Schools of Graduates Studies (tpadmit@cityu.edu.hk) during application period.

9. Will I be interviewed as part of the application process?

  • Interviews are optional and, if any, are by invitation only. If you are not invited for an interview, that is not indicative of your final admissions decision.

10. I have submitted my application. May I know a status update on my application?

  • Once submitting your all documents, the Admissions Committee will begin reviewing the application. We will contact you if there is any additional information needed. Sorry that NO individual review will be provided since we receive a large number of applications. Please do not send emails for status update.

11. When will I know the admission result under the rolling basis?

  • We have released the last round of admission. Thank you again for your intereset in our program.

12. Can I transfer to QAB from another stream after being admitted?

  • We do not allow applicants or future admitted students from other streams to transfer to the QAB stream.
