WANG Shengyu is a PhD candidate in Finance at City University of Hong Kong (expected 2027) and is on the 2026–2027 academic job market. His research interests lie in empirical asset pricing, China's financial markets, and AI applications in finance research. His job market paper, "Firm-Level Political Risk and the Cost of Debt," examines how firm-level political exposure shapes corporate borrowing costs, complemented by ongoing work on government ownership, pre-IPO bond issuance, syndicated loan pricing, and political adversity in primary and secondary bond markets. He has presented at the 2025 New Zealand Finance Meeting. Previously, he earned an M.Sc. in Finance from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Economics from Shandong University (Weihai). At City University of Hong Kong, he has served as a research assistant in the College of Business and the Department of Economics and Finance. He is proficient in Python, R, and SAS.
