| Abstract: | The multiple container loading problem with preference (MCLPP) is a practical problem faced by an international audio equipment manufacturer. In MCLPP every product is assigned a preference. We would like ship products in a customer order with two objectives: minimizing unit shipping cost and maximizing total preference of shipped products. Unlike the classic multiple container loading problem, we are allowed to slightly adjust the order quantity. A three step heuristic is proposed to address this problem and test instances are generated that can be served as benchmark data for future research. |
