Company Research – What to read about?
To demonstrate your passion to the industry, take a look at their business landscape, corporate values, project development, recent media and achievements to help you better understand their corporate development and allows you to engage in substantial conversations.


How do I know what kind of job fits my career path?
Be open minded and explorative. Think about your career strengths, what are you good at doing, and then your career interests, what gives you most job satisfaction? Don’t limit yourself with one industry. Don’t make assumption that only relevant study can apply for certain jobs. Chat with Recruiters to get insights!


Prepare a CV or LinkedIn Profile
An effective CV or LinkedIn profile should include a summary, education, work experiences, relevant projects, extra-curricular activities, achievements, and technical skills. Bring a copy with you to discuss your portfolio with HR at the spot.

Introduce yourself:

  1. Dress neat – Professional manner 
  2. A pleasant smile 😊 –Show your positive energy, confidence, readiness and you are approachable.

  4. What can you contribute? (relevant experience, job skills, projects, technologies, strengths)

  7. Thank Recruiters by their names to show respect. 


Networking – Where should I start the conversation?
  1. Prepare constructive questions - Things that are not publicly searchable online or already on the company leaflets.
  2. Vision - Don’t just focus on the job nature itself, you can also consult about the industry positioning, company development, talent development plans, success stories, career prospects, licensing qualifications and etc. to help you assess your career plan.
  3. Prepare open-ended questions – To maintain a 2-way interactive conversation.
  4. Ask follow up questions – Don’t be shy as this is for your career, what else do you want to know about the company and the jobs? 

Examples:

  • I am major in __________, is there any internship or graduate jobs that would be suitable for my major?
  • How is the internship like? 
  • What kind of work experiences, job skills/technology, or extra-curricular activities would have higher advantage? 
  • What is the interview process like and how long does it usually take?
  • Any language requirements?
