Around 40 local and international students gathered for a Mid-Autumn Festival party hosted by the College’s Exchange Student Club (ESC) on 20 September.

The event gave inbound exchange students a taste of the traditional Chinese culture with fun-filled activities like lantern making, mooncake making and tasting, Chinese calligraphy and lantern riddles. They ESC also prepared some traditional Chinese clothes for exchange students to put on.

Highlight of the party was a drama about the Chinese folk tale called “The Goddess Chang'e flew to the moon.” Through the drama, exchange students learn more about the meaning of the festival and the Chinese family concept.

“I really enjoyed everything of the party, and I want to say thank you to the organisers. I like the mooncake making part most because it was a brand new experience for me and I enjoyed the interaction with other participants throughout the process,” said Sayaka Kobayashi who comes from Meiji University in Japan

The event was one of the Student-initiated Projects funded by the Global Engagement Office of CityU.
