Inbound exchange students from around the world have arrived in Hong Kong to embark on their learning journey at the College of Business at City University of Hong Kong. The Exchange Student Club (ESC) organised a virtual orientation in early January to welcome the students who they were undergoing the 21-day quarantine.

Over 50 students actively participated in the orientation activities which include a virtual campus tour, ice-breaking games, and sharing on how to learn and live in Hong Kong, to help the new students better integrate into the university and the city.

Highlight part was a game named “Cantonese!” in which ESC committee members taught on some traditional Chinese characters and common Cantonese expressions. Students were asked to pronounce Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong in Cantonese.

“I found the zoom meeting helpful and informative,” said Noura El Riz from the Paris Dauphine University, France. “I also felt reassured to know that a lot of group activities have been planned for us, and I can visit many places in Hong Kong with other exchange students in the future.”

“Students from all over the world were able to make new friends at the orientation. By connecting with students during their quarantine period, we believe that they could feel being cared for and supported,” said Iris Fu, the President of the ESC.

The College of Business and the ESC thank all students for their participation and we look forward to seeing all of you around the CityU campus.
