An evening of insight, dialogue, and connection unfolded at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) as the College of Business successfully hosted “Dialogue and Dine: Insights for Your Career Development.” The full house event brought together business leaders, alumni, faculty members, and students for a candid exchange on navigating careers in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
The event was an initiative of the Student Development Sub-committee of the College Alumni Advisory Board (CAAB), encouraging meaningful conversations that extended well beyond the panel stage. Participants gathered not only to listen but to engage — sharing perspectives, asking thoughtful questions, and building new connections across generations and industries.

The panel discussion, titled “Navigating Your Career Journey: Bridging Talent Competencies and Gaps,” featured a distinguished lineup of industry leaders spanning transportation infrastructure, family office governance, professional services, digital transformation, investment advisory, and digital marketing.
Speakers included Mr Raymond Yuen, Chief of Special Projects Office, MTR Corporation Limited; Mr Allan Lee, Vice President and Head of Family Governance Center, Legacy Academy; Mr Charles Lee, Vice Chair and Managing Partner, PwC China; Dr Fareeda Cassumbhoy, Group Chief Digital Officer, Pico Global Services Co. Ltd; Mr Ramand Chan, Founder and CEO, Wah Yip Investment Holdings Limited; and Mr Wilson Wong, Marketing Director, Price .com. hk Ltd. Each brought forward real‑world insights shaped by decades of leadership experience.
Throughout the discussion, panelists offered practical guidance on kick‑starting careers, overcoming early‑stage challenges, and staying relevant amid technological and market shifts. A recurring theme was the importance of adaptability — staying open to unexpected opportunities while continuously upgrading one’s skill set.
Participants were encouraged to:
- remain curious and proactive in learning,
- build a strong personal brand grounded in credibility,
- think critically and adapt to industry change, and
- recognise networking as an ongoing professional responsibility rather than a one‑off activity.
Equally valuable were the candid “don’ts,” as speakers cautioned against avoiding challenges or underestimating the role of relationships and lifelong learning in long‑term success.
As the panel discussion session concluded, the dialogue continued over dinner — true to the spirit of the event. Lively table discussions emerged organically, as students exchanged ideas with alumni and industry leaders, turning insights into shared experiences and advice into inspiring stories.
Professor Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business, welcomes everyone to join the Dialogue and Dine 2026.
Professor Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business, extended special thanks to Mr William Mak, Chairman of the Student Development Sub‑committee of the CAAB, for his continued support in advancing initiatives that create meaningful engagement between students and alumni.
By the end of the evening, what began as a panel discussion had evolved into lasting connections and renewed perspectives on career development — leaving participants inspired, informed, and empowered to shape their own professional journeys.
The College of Business looks forward to building on this momentum through future initiatives that continue to turn experience into progression.

Mr William Mak (centre), Chairman of the CAAB, presents the souvenirs to the speakers as an appreciation for their inspirational sharing.
