Inspiring start for CityUHK EMBA Chinese 2025 Spring cohort
The CityUHK College of Business hosted its orientation for the 2025 Spring cohort of the Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) (EMBA (Chinese)) programme in late March. The event marked the beginning of a transformative learning journey for the 48 new students joining the programme, who participated in various activities designed to foster teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.

Professor Gang Hao, Programme Director, set an inspiring tone during the opening ceremony. She encouraged the new cohort to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead with curiosity and determination. “With an open heart and persistent effort, you will eventually achieve a breakthrough in your thinking and cognition,” she shared.
The celebratory spirit continued at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel for a Welcome Dinner. Over 130 guests, including esteemed faculty members, alumni, and current students, gathered to officially welcome the new class into the vibrant CityUHK EMBA (Chinese) family.
Among the distinguished attendees was Professor Kalok Chan, Dean of the College of Business. He warmly greeted the 48 new students, highlighting the record-breaking enrollment for the spring intake. "I am confident that with the support of our exceptional faculty and a well-rounded curriculum, you will experience growth that exceeds your expectations," Dean Chan said, underscoring the College's dedication to providing a supportive and enriching environment where students can truly flourish. Other distinguished guests present included Professor Houmin Yan, Chair Professor of Management Sciences, and Ms Grace Liang, Director of the Alumni Relations Office, all echoing the sentiment of excitement and support for the incoming class.

The orientation extended beyond formal gatherings, offering hands-on experiences designed to build crucial executive skills. An outdoor leadership training session in Sai Kung challenged students with team-based activities and high-stakes tasks, fostering trust and cooperation. Back on campus, an experiential leadership workshop at the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre allowed the cohort to explore leadership and communication through interactive storytelling and performance exercises, pushing them to think creatively and connect on a deeper level.

As the orientation drew to a close, a dedicated session on self-awareness and personal development provided a moment for reflection. Students contemplated the initial steps of their EMBA journey – a journey set to challenge, inspire, and transform.
