Fireside Chat: “Bank of Tomorrow”

“Capacity Building for Future Banking” - In June 2020, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), The Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) and The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) conducted an industry-wide study and published a joint paper on “Capacity Building for Future Banking” (the 2020 study). The study assessed potential skill gaps in the banking industry for the period from 2021 to 2025 and provided a roadmap for collaboration among key stakeholders in the banking industry to address future talent needs.

The three critical skill gaps for talent management were identified: (i) technological and data skills, (ii) banking knowledge, such as climate-related business expertise, and (iii) specific soft skills.

In this session, the panelists will share insights on the crucial skill gaps; discuss the future banking talent needs across the various banking services; and share advice on the enhancing skills for tomorrow’s growth opportunities in Banking.
